Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson — a longtime friend of Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) — attended Saturday’s inauguration, but would not address his controversial comments on the Hatian earthquake.
Robertson sat in the first row of bleachers overlooking the Capitol. Earlier in the day, he refused questions from reporters about the quake.
Earlier this week, Robertson said that Haiti was cursed because of a pact its citizens made with the devil hundreds of years ago.
A spokesman later clarified those comments, saying Robertson never called the earthquake God’s wrath.
McDonnell has said he disagreed with his friend’s comments.
