With a week and a day before the polls close across the Commonwealth, candidates for office are making their closing arguments to voters.
For gubernatorial candidates Creigh Deeds (D) and Bob McDonnell (R), that means visits from major national politicos.
President Barack Obama will stump for Deeds Tuesday in Norfolk.
McDonnell has a slew of surrogates coming to Virginia, starting with former Notre Dame football coach (and possible GOP congressional candidate) Lou Holtz, who will attend a low-dollar meet-and-greet Monday night in Richmond. Fomer Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will campaign for McDonnell on Wednesday.
All this week, I’ll be taking a closer look at five major issues in the gubernatorial race. In addition to segments on NBC29 HD News at Five and Six, I’ll provide some more context and analysis here.
The issues we’ll be examining are: transportation; jobs and the economy; women’s issues; higher education and federal issues.
