Former Gov. Linwood Holton (R) is getting behind Democratic gubernatorial nominee Creigh Deeds.
Holton — who frequently breaks with his party to support Democrats — announced his endorsement Tuesday at a press conference in Northern Virginia.
He said Deeds’ transportation plan is “the most realistic plan of either of the two candidates.”
“The other candidate has proposed several false promises.”
Holton is the father-in-law of current Gov. Tim Kaine (D). He backed then- Sen. Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential race.
