Republican gubernatorial nominee Bob McDonnell will give this week’s GOP response to President Barack Obama’s radio address, McDonnell’s campaign announced today.
The address, which will receive national play, will come just two days after Mr. Obama comes to the Commonwealth to campaign for McDonnell’s opponent, Democrat Creigh Deeds.
Coincidence? Not likely.
McDonnell’s campaign said the former state attorney general will focus his rebuttal on the issue of jobs. “[McDonnell] will highlight proactive policy proposals that will help create the good-paying jobs of tomorrow, as well as discuss the importance of preventing the enactment of policies that would endanger the jobs of today,” McDonnell spokeswoman Crystal Cameron said in a news release.
House GOP leader Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) selected McDonnell for the high-profile assignment.
Check back Saturday morning for the full text of McDonnell’s remarks.
